Getting Some Nice Mussels

The other night I made my first attempt at the local specialty here, mussels. Portarlington, a little bay town about 20 minutes from Geelong, is particularly well-known for them. I have to say that I was quite impressed by the freshness (they still smelled like they had just come out of the sea when we got them back to the house) and with myself for turning them into such a nice culinary experience! Scrubbing them was no fun, but the end result, Mussels in Saffron Cream, was delicious.

Not only do they taste good, but mussels are excellent source of zinc and iron too (as I have learned in my Essentials of Personal Training studies)!
